ASSESSMENT IN PUBLIC SCHOOL OF SINDH: PRACTICES, TRENDS AND IMPLICATIONS

Large- scale assessment is used to evaluate overall education system. It emerged during 1980s as a tool inform system across the world. In Pakistan, large- was initiated by National Education Assessment Center. different provinces and areas, centers were also established. Today, ASER, PEACe SAT are major conducted in public sector. This research aimed examine large-scale practices schools of Sindh, rationale its contribution improve education. situated qualitative paradigm which data collected through document reviews analysis well interviews. The findings confirm that, three types assessments have been reporting dismal situation students’ achievement. score generally ranges between 25 30 an alarming condition. Textbook based teaching, unawareness teachers about developing standardized high order unavailability basic facilities core issues associated with low scores. consistent demands reconceptualize focus may be shifted promote formative prepare sector conduct effective meaningful assessments. recommends that policies regarding already exist need implemented their true spirit.
